Other great health-tech startups to keep an eye out for

November 23, 2018LocumunityUncategorized

Although the locum lifestyle can sometimes seem lonely, at Locumunity, we strongly believe that being part of a larger community helps you thrive!

That’s why we’re grateful to know so many other great health-tech startups here in BC. While we’ve been striving to revolutionize physician recruiting, there’s been so many other new companies out there also making waves in the industry. This week we thought we’d feature some of these innovative companies, and give our fellow B.C. health-tech start-ups a shout out. Check out the latest companies making an impact on medication monitoring, medical billing, and walk-in clinic wait times.

CuePath

CuePath is a healthcare tech company that helps seniors and other vulnerable individuals stay healthy and independent with the support of their circle of care. Their technology helps provide caregivers with the information needed to support users with medical adherence.

Here’s how it works:

Pharmacies apply a CuePath sensor to a medication-taker’s compliance packaging – the user then takes the medication the same way they always have. Families and care professionals can then remotely track the medication intake of their loved ones with the CuePath App.

Why it’s cool:

Since users are using their medication blister packs as they always would, there’s no need for them to learn new technology. The CuePath sensor can also sound an optional alarm to remind users when to take their medication, and caregivers can receive alerts if a medication dose is ever missed.

Dr. Bill

Dr. Bill is medical billing made easy. With their app, doctors are able to bill on their smartphone and get billing agent support. By skipping the paperwork, doctors can boost productivity and earn more.

Here’s how it works:

Doctors take a picture of a patient label and log their claim through the app. They then review their submissions and manage rejections on the web. Doctors can use alongside their EMR to submit their billings as they work.

Why it’s cool:

Dr. Bill’s tech automates billing tasks that are repetitive and time-consuming for physicians. For BC physicians, they can submit billings directly to MSP for payment, as well as verify a patient’s insurance coverage. Doctors can also set alerts for claim issues.

Medimap

Medimap is an online resource for connecting patients with same-day access to care that empowers patients with information and tools to help them find the fastest access to care in their community.

Here’s how it works:

About every thirty minutes clinic staff update their wait time for walk-in patients. Wait times are posted to Medimap, along with the time it was last updated. Patients can search by location and choose a walk-in clinic in their community based on availability.

Why it’s cool:

At select walk-in clinics, patients can actually add their name to the wait list before they arrive, so that they can wait from wherever. All patients have to do is submit their info through Medimap, which gets sent to the clinic and their staff. Once on the waitlist, patients get texted a required arrival time. When it’s time, patients arrive at the clinic and check in through Medimap.
