Locum Stories: Dr. Jen Vassel & Baby Maddy
There’s a story behind every locum posting, and today we’d like to share Dr. Jen Vassel’s story!
Jen is a family physician practicing in Langley, BC. She’s currently on maternity leave with her second child (see adorable baby Maddy 👶🏻). Maddy was born in April of this year, and Jen has been hoping to take 6 months of maternity leave to spend with her baby.
Unfortunately, she’s been unable to find locum coverage beyond 4 months, and as end of August approaches, she’s worried that she may have to return to work sooner than she hoped.
Jen reflects, “No wonder young graduates don’t want to settle into a practice – it’s because finding coverage is so difficult. The freedom to take time off is priceless.”
Jen works at Four Oaks Medical Clinic, one of a handful of clinics in BC that implements a blended- funding model. Some details about the coverage she’s looking for:
- From Sept 4th- Nov 5th 2018
- Her schedule is MWF from 10am-4pm (with 1 hour lunch, so only 5 hours of clinical time)
- Compensation is a guaranteed per diem of $800/day!
- Scheduling’s very flexible – it can be any 2-3 days of the week, adding up to ~15 clinic hours/week.
Help us find Jen coverage, so she can spend 2 more months with Maddy!
